Ryan's Story

Ryan was born in Minnesota and grew up in Centreville, VA.  He was involved with all sports from a young age.  Baseball was a particular love of Ryan.  He picked up his first nickname, "Sharky" from his little league baseball coach, Coach Zeltner.  Ryan attended Centreville High School in Clifton, VA where he played football.  Coach Morgan, his running back coach, tells the story of Ryan breaking free for a 70 yard touchdown, while he (always one to care about his appearance) adjusted his helmet about 10 times as he ran to the end zone.  Ryan spent the summer after high school as a manager with the Carney Pirates, a Clark Griffith wood bat team that traveled the East Coast.  Ryan showed at an early age his remarkable leadership skills and maturity.

Ryan attended the University of South Carolina and received his Bachelor and Masters' Degrees in Sports Management.  He was Student Manager with the South Carolina Baseball team when they won back-to-back National Championships in 2010 & 2011.  Ryan worked as the Director and Assistant Director of Equipment and Apparel Operations for the University of South Carolina baseball and football teams, working for legendary coaches Steve Spurrier and Ray Tanner.  Ryan went on to join US Brick in December, 2020 as the South Carolina Sales Manager.

"Fisch", as he was known to fellow Gamecocks, was an avid Gamecock and gave both love and labor to South Carolina Athletics for many years.

Ryan also loved boating on the Lakes of Minnesota and Lake Murray and was a passionate sports fan, from the Minnesota Vikings to the Gamecocks.  Every day was game day to Ryan.  He loved his family and friends beyond measure.  He will forever be remembered for his infectious laughter, his genuine kindness to everyone he met and his sweet smile.

Ryan married Elizabeth Black in December, 2019.  They were thrilled to be expecting a baby girl.  Ryan was excited and looking forward to becoming a Dad.  We know he would fill his daughter, Elizabeth Giannelli "Gia" Fischer's life with endless devotion, tender guidance, and everlasting love.  Gia was born December 15, 2021.
